So these don't have any internal storage in the rear of the car? I have a Z with a nice rear area, did they just waste the space and put that rack on the back?? I see the fuel must be there, but surely they could have made some room for a bag or two.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

Some have a glass canopy that gives you an interior shelf, but the ones with the flat window don't have such storage. All there is is the luggage rack.

I see some have an internal shelf, by 71. Seems like that space was for the convertible version to take up, the blue one is a 69.

Luggage rack is a factory option.
There is storage behind the rear seats, and some "trap door" compartments.
Edit, like this:

Some C3s had an actual hatch, just the last year or two I believe.

That's where the t-tops go (in bags)

The later ones had a glass hatch, but those early ones with the buttresses only had a pass-through behind the seats so you could store the t-tops.

'78-'82. Only the '82 Collector's Edition had a hatch that you could open/close.

Early and Middle run C3s with buttresses ('68-'77) only had a small area behind the seats where you could put T-Tops. Sure, there are a few compartments, but they won't hold much of anything. The luggage rack was an option from the factory, so that is, technically, not a standard storage area.
Later C3s ('78-'82) gained a hatch, which held much more cargo (or at least compared to the early C3s). However, this hatch was sealed shut. It was not until '82, on the Collector's Edition, that the hatch could open/close.

It reminds me of my old '74 Karmann Ghia. That year, they dispensed with the pretense of a rear seat and just had a shelf behind the front seats. There was a panel that folded down, exposing a pretty decent storage space, useful considering the frunk was unsuitable for carrying ... anything. But that shelf was just the perfect depth and width. If I were only transporting my guitar, the case of my Fender Jaguar fit absolutely perfectly on that shelf, like it was tailor-made. But if I were also moving a 2x12 combo, I could stand the amp up, and there was just enough room to stand the guitar case up in front of it, and pieced together like that, it locked everything in perfectly so that nothing would move around. I could even stuff a couple of suitcases worth of stompboxes and cables in the storage spot behind it.
I was always amazed that I could take everything I needed for a gig in such a small car and still have room for my girlfriend to ride shotgun.

Hmmm, I wonder what's underneath that rear deck. If there's some space I can't see what the problem would be with hacking through the fibreglass, reingforcing some bits and sticking some hinges and a latch on there to make a functional boot...

There are some bits in the way. It is crazy how close the rear suspension is there.

Oh yeah :S sod all space. Perhaps if you sacrificed having a spare it might work...
